This article examines research conducted by a team of clinicians who performed and published a medical oncology malpractice case analysis in the Journal of Healthcare Risk Management. The primary goal of analyzing claims from CRICO’s national Candello database was to identify the association between safety incidents in medical oncology practice and systems failures rather than individual provider remediation, and to inform potential redesign solutions. The findings highlighted the prevalence of known patient safety concerns in medical oncology, prompting several recommendations.
