In addition to CRICO’s history, Mc Carthy shares his views on the recent national fundamental changes in healthcare and the possible impact on the captive insurance industry. He writes, “CRICO and other captives have proven to be highly adaptable as various changes have impacted captive sponsors.” In conclusion Mc Carthy says, “Captive based malpractice insurance has become a superior product and serves captive owners well. This base of insurance acumen will, increasingly, be married to objectives in quality improvement and patient safety to the benefit of patients, providers and the sponsoring organizations.”
