A Year’s Worth of Patient Safety
Dec 30, 2015
Observing health care through the lens of medical malpractice events can leave one feeling more like the dyspeptic Ebenezer Scrooge than the irrepressible Tiny Tim. While sometimes tragic, the events that lead to malpractice suits are not the norm. Health care providers do remarkable work, often under extremely challenging circumstances. And even though medical errors are not uncommon, iatrogenic injuries are relatively rare because caregivers usually recognize and address those errors before harm can ensue. Such near misses may haunt the clinicians involved, at least until they are confident that the underlying problems have been resolved.
Rather than lose sleep with worry, rest assured that you and your colleagues are optimally prepared to identify and remediate the patient safety risks in your practice environment. The turn of the calendar to 2016 is an ideal time to consider a year’s worth of Patient Safety tools and educational opportunities available on the CRICO and CRICO Strategies websites.
