Medical Malpractice Claims within Cardiology from 2006 to 2015

In a new study published in American Journal of Cardiology, researchers analyzed cardiology-related malpractice claims in CRICO Strategies national Comparative Benchmarking System (CBS) and found that both the total number of claims and annual indemnity payments in cardiology have seen an overall increase from 2006 to 2015. Researchers identified the most common allegation as improper medical treatment followed by diagnostic error. Further insight in the study helps cardiologist better understand the characteristics of cardiology-related malpractice claims and common types of patient injuries which can aid mitigating malpractice risk and support better patient care.
