Three Tips to Prevent Errors in the Patient Handoff

Data from the CRICO Strategies CBS Report, Medical Malpractice Risks of Communication Failures, shines light on some of the communication failures that can occur between provider and provider.

Recognizing the risk of error during a patient hand off, this article offers three things to be aware of that might help to mitigate that risk: recognize that EHRs can contribute to the problem, create a culture of safety, and coordinate follow-up care.
