Data as A Catalyst for Change: Stories from the Frontlines

To illustrate the power of quantitative, qualitative, and comparative data to spotlight real issues and to fuel meaningful change in health care, Dana Siegal, RN, CPHRM Director of Patient Safety for CRICO Strategies and Gretchen Ruoff, MPH, CPHRM Senior Program Director for Patient Safety Services for CRICO Strategies present initiatives and case abstracts, drawn from CRICO’s Comparative Benchmarking System (CBS) data-sharing community.



This article presents a series of case studies that illustrate how health care organizations have used data—quantitative, qualitative, and comparative—to address vulnerabilities and guide meaningful change to improve patient safety. These examples are drawn from the data-sharing community of CRICO Strategies.
