To implement simulation training programs in hospitals successfully, it became necessary to develop qualified faculty and debriefers to teach courses to hundreds of operating room teams. CRICO and CMS collaborated to develop an educational program focused on interprofessional educators to prepare them to lead the training programs in their hospitals. Rather than training as individuals, this course is designed for teams of instructors representing the professions that will be teaching and training together, ensuring the courses are relevant to the entire OR team.

Conclusion: The OR teamwork educators programs appears to be teaching faculty needed skills to prepare them for effective simulation-based teaching of teamwork in the perioperative setting. Follow-up after a period of experience is anticipated.
