For primary care physicians wanting to better manage the risks around prostate care, Prostate Cancer Screening and Beyond: Genetics, Prevention and Therapy fit the bill. It’s a presentation from internationally renowned prostate expert Marc Garnick, from a day-long course on patient safety and risk management in primary care in October 2018 in Boston. Learn how PSA issues are a leading cause of cancer malpractice claims—and getting worse. Dr. Garnick shares the clinical insights behind the fact that physicians, NPs and institutions are all named as defendants in legal actions by patients.

The course, Best Medical Practices: Maximizing Skills, Minimizing Risk, was jointly sponsored by two Harvard teaching hospitals and CRICO, the insurance and patient safety program for all of the Harvard medical institutions and their affiliates. Dr. Garnick is the Gorman Brothers Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he also maintains an active clinical practice. Dr. Garnick founded the Hershey Family Foundation for Prostate Cancer Research at Beth Israel Deaconess, and is an active member of several FDA panels and advisory committees.
