Medical liability insurer MMIC to leverage analytics for healthcare risk management strategies

In 2013, MMIC Group partnered with CRICO Strategies giving it the opportunity to examine its malpractice claims data with additional insight provided by CRICO’s 40 years of accumulated claims information. The result is a new project that will provide customers of MMIC and its sister companies across 16 states with actionable data pertaining to surgical malpractice cases.

The “Circle Up” process featured in this commentary was implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic to aid frontline health care workers. It was informed by the findings of a CRICO-funded grant project that is researching “adverse events through in-situ debriefing and the spaced practice of speaking up.” The project is led by Jenny Rudolph, PhD at Massachusetts General Hospital.
