Join your CBS national peers for the CRICO Strategies 2017 CBS Member Summit. This day and a half convening will focus entirely on maximizing the value of your CBS membership.

CBS Members are invited to join us at the Boston Marriott Newton for one and a half days of focused dialog on our CBS data and Learning Community. We will explore the coding and analytical process, how each organization is using CBS data and the critical role of disseminating the analysis and learnings across your organization. Additional discussions will include the role of assessments in understanding risk from both a clinical and business perspective, with an eye toward the needs of claims, underwriting and patient safety. We are preparing a robust agenda with ample time for discussion, feedback and exchange of ideas so please plan to join us for this valuable learning and building opportunity.

Our sessions will focus on using CBS data and some of the topics we will discuss and explore include:

  • Next generation coding and taxonomy: In this session, Alexa McCray, PhD, HMS Professor of Medicine and renowned ontology and taxonomy specialist, will summarize her assessment of the CBS coding and taxonomy processes, and share recommendations for Taxonomy 2.0. We look forward to your thoughts and feedback as we discuss how to increase our data opportunities through enhanced capture and coding.
  • The role of assessment in risk and patient safety: This session will explore various types of risk assessments, including a case study from Liz Mort, MD, Senior Vice President Quality & Safety, MGH, and open a discussion of how your Patient Safety, Claims, and Underwriting teams can collaborate and benefit from the findings.
  • Data in action, from query to dissemination:
    • ANALYSIS—Starting with the kinds of questions that drive an analysis, members will share how they identify a focus for analysis, explore the use of CRIT and CBS, and then work through the data analysis process.
    • ADVANCED ANALYTICS—Gene Quinn, MD, HMS Fellow in Patient Safety and Quality, will share his experience in applying regression models to CBS data, and demonstrate how it can enhance understanding of patient safety risks.
    • DISSEMINATION—Once an analysis is complete, the next step is to package it for presentation and education. We invite all our members to bring examples of their reports and other dissemination efforts, so that we may learn from each other.
