Carol Keohane, MS, RN is Assistant Vice President for CRICO’s Patient Safety department. Prior to holding this role, she was AVP of the AMC PSO (Academic Medical Center's Patient Safety Organization) at CRICO.

She joined CRICO in 2012, after having served 10 years as Program Director for the Center for Patient Safety Research and Practice at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In her prior role, Ms. Keohane had oversight of a large patient safety research portfolio and was responsible for directing all research efforts conducted through the Center and assisted in advancing the Center’s mission and strategic plan. Ms. Keohane brings with her extensive experience in research efforts aimed at evaluating novel approaches towards making health care more effective, efficient, and safe and has published extensively in this area. She also serves as a Nurse Reviewer for the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Voluntary Review of Quality Care Program and as a member of ACOG’s Committee on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement and Advisory Panel for ACOG’s Safety Certification for Outpatient Practice Excellence (SCOPE) initiative.

Ms. Keohane received her Bachelor of Science degree from St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH,  a Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics from the University of MA, and also completed an Executive Education Leadership program at the Harvard Business School. In addition, she has received a Master of Science degree in Health Informatics and Management.
