Unintended Consequences of EHR Systems: A Narrative Review

This paper reports on the common factors leading to unintended consequences and medical errors, while exploring mitigation factors to address the associated risks.


Authors evaluated research that examined unintended consequences of IT in health care, including data from a research study that analyzed EHR-related medical malpractice claims from the CRICO Strategies national Comparative Benchmarking System (CBS).
