from qualified experts.”

Brent Gilbert

Brent Gilbert, Esq., Senior Claims Representative, explains the medical expert process and CRICO's internal collective analysis of whether a case should settle or proceed to trial.

When Do We Need Medical Experts?

Because the practice of medicine is beyond the general knowledge of any jury, the law requires expert testimony from qualified experts. Expert medical witnesses are a critical piece of the defense in any medical malpractice lawsuit. CRICO has a large database of local and national medical experts, in every area of practice.

Our CRICO medical consultants carefully identify experts with the knowledge and experience necessary to help us evaluate the allegations made in each case.

Depending on the care at issue in the case and the damages alleged by the plaintiff, we may have separate experts testify about the standard of care relevant to allegations in the case, as well as about the medical issues related to the plaintiff’s alleged damages.

CRICO and your defense attorney put a significant amount of thought into which experts we have testify at trial on your behalf if your case goes to trial. We identify experts who we believe a jury will find both credible and knowledgeable. Your team will also discuss with you any recommendations you may have on potential experts.
