The coordinator then contacts the patient to reschedule with a note in the record.

Use of the IDX practice management system creates a facsimile of the physician's schedule to track and reconcile mammography. Each provider is assigned a medical assistant; the MA makes the mammography appointments and reconciles outstanding tests with incoming reports. Abnormal results are forwarded to the provider and follow up is scheduled and entered into the IDX system to ensure patient received follow up as planned.
