Diagnostic test results may be conveyed to the patient by letter, phone, or through Patient Gateway. Providers receive an e-mailed receipt when patients view thier test results in Patient Gateway.

Benefits: - Patients are notified of both normal and abnormal results.
- Patient gateway provides patient centered care and a mechanism to notify providers that the results have been reviewed by the patient.

- Lab results are forwarded to the ordering provider's EPIC “In Basket” for review and acknowledgement.
- Outside lab results are forwarded to the ordering provider, acknoledged, and scanned into the EMR.
- Patient notification letters are generated from the EMR or results discussed at the visit.
